Summer 2017 Reading - RETURNING STUDENTS

Summer 2017 Reading - RETURNING STUDENTS
Posted on 07/28/2017

Welcome to the 2017 Summer Reading. You should have received a copy of the summer reading book, the Last Lecture, in the final days of school. If you did not, please contact the main office.

What would you say to the people who meant the most to you, especially if you knew that you had only months to live? Randy Pausch, former Carnegie Mellon University professor, gave such a talk titled “Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams” because he wanted to leave this legacy for his young children after being diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer.

The Last Lecture is Pausch’s memoir, a celebration of life, and a testament to the power of childhood dreams. But it is also, perhaps most of all, a book of lessons. As you begin your last year of high school and face the changes that
will be happening in your life, Pausch’s words provide thought-provoking guidance.

After reading the book, there is a culminiating assignment that we'd like you to complete to reflect upon your first year at TRMC and Pausch's message. This can be done in any format -- written, verbal, video, artwork, poetry, etc. A link or file needs to be "turned in" through google classroom to fulfil your requirements for the summer reading. You have all been added to google classroom summer reading already.

As always, please feel free to email Pam with any questions at email throughout the summer.

Wishing you a safe, relaxing, and enjoyable summer!
